GMST Tie-Dye and Ice Cream Event!

Our annual team Tie-Dye Event will be held at Severn Crossing Poolon June 19th (Juneteenth!), next to the pool, from 6-8PM. Morning practice at GAFC is cancelled on 6/19, but we will hold our regular practice at Severn Crossing from 6:45-8PM.

We’ll have some cold treats and provide tie-dye materials and instructions for all interested. Bring your GMST t-shirt (or another shirt) to decorate! Old clothing (or an apron) is suggested. If you are interested in planning designs before you arrive, there are multiple tutorials available on-line, including:

GM@SVA

The first swim meet of the summer will be this Saturday, June 15th,
at Smallwood Village Swim Club (SVA). The address is 1019 Stone Avenue in Waldorf, MD. The complex is not visible from Stone Avenue, but there is a sign pointing the way. Cars can park anywhere in the complex, including the treed area surrounding the perimeter fence.

IMPORTANT: Smallwood Village is about 35 miles from Greenbelt. Please allow sufficient time to make the trip. Report time is 7:40am. Upon arrival, swimmers should check in with the coaches before warmups.

Other notes:

  1. The visitor spectator area has shade, but we are welcome to bring tents. Families should bring chairs if they want them.
  2. Concessions will be available.
  3. A guppy/peewee race will be held during the break between events 46 and 47. If any Developmental swimmers are attending (almost certainly in the company of older siblings) and are interested, let Coach Maia or Coach Cora know.

Finally, rather than heading back to Greenbelt for the traditional post-meet meal, anyone who is interested can meet at the Waldorf outpost of Three Brothers. The address is 3069 Waldorf Market Place and it’s less than three miles from the Smallwood Village pool.
