Summer 2024
Cora Jackson – Head Coach; 11-12 Age Group Lead
Cora Jackson started swimming for GMST around 2011, and ever since, the team and its community have been invaluable parts of her life. Growing up in the area, Cora switched schools several times before ending up at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, so summer swim and the lifelong friendships forged there provided a consistency that helped her develop her sense of self. She started volunteering with the Developmentals at age 11 and fell in love with coaching. She was hired as the 9-10 coach in 2019 and eventually became the Head Coach for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Now, she is a 3rd year undergraduate student at Vanderbilt University, where she is studying Earth & Environmental Science, Education, and Data Science, and continuing to coach swimmers ages 5-18 at Nashville Aquatic Club, which has consistently been named a USA Swimming Gold and Silver Medal Club. Last summer, she helped Greenbelt as a substitute coach while coaching for Machine Aquatics. She also has experience coaching English language learners in both the USA and Sri Lanka. Because of the role GMST played in bringing joy, fulfillment, and growth to her life, Cora wants nothing more than to help other swimmers gain the same from their time at Greenbelt.

Volunteer Assistant Coaches
GMST typically has from five to ten volunteer assistant coaches that help implement the practice sets, work one-on-one with swimmers, and help with practice and swim meet logistics on an as-needed basis. Some of these volunteers later become full Assistant Coaches.
